Lisa Abernathy-Close, Ph.D., found herself intrigued by science at an early age. Her fascination took on an even more personal tone when she was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease as a nine-year-old. Today, she is a rheumatology postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Internal Medicine.
