Lifestyle changes in nutrition, exercise, and weight loss for good health

Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors that include high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol levels, and abdominal fat. Having several of these risk factors compounds the disease risks, such as blood vessel and heart disease that can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes. The good news is that it can be managed with lifestyle changes in nutrition, exercise, and weight loss.  The Metabolic Fitness Program sessions combine educational discussions and clinically-supervised exercise. Referral and individual clinic screening appointments are required.  Weekly sessions meet Tuesdays eves in Cardiovascular Medicine at Domino’s Farms.Click here for more information.Website: http://www.umcvc.org/mfp

Please be advised that the sanitary sewer lining and repair work currently underway on Glen Avenue between East Huron Street and Catherine Street has been extended with work expected to be complete and roads reopened by Wednesday, April 27. Please be advised that the I-275 freeway is currently undergoing improvements from 5-Mile Road to the I-696 interchange, with construction expected to last through mid-September. As a result, there will be road closures that directly impact access to the following facilities: Northville Health Center Livonia Health Center Livonia Center for Specialty Care Construction crews will be closing I-275 one direction at a time (North/South), in addition to related road and exit closures as they fix the freeway and bridges.
