Video-taped weight-loss operations revealed that a physician's surgical skill is not equal from one bariatric surgery to another. U-M assistant professor of surgery Oliver Varban, M.D., was quoted by Reuters Health on study findings that suggest “a surgeon’s skill with one operation may not translate into other seemingly similar operations." Varban and colleagues looked at the performance of gastric bypass surgery and sleeve gastrectomy.
