Joint Commission to survey VAD program today

The Cardiovascular Center Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program will be undergo a re-certification survey, by the Joint Commission today . The reviewer is expected to be on site at approximately 8 a.m. The visit will continue tomorrow Tuesday, March 15. This survey is to re-certify the VAD program for its advanced certification for disease specific care; a requirement for Medicare reimbursement. One surveyor will be on-site going through a Joint Commission review utilizing tracer methodology; which includes interviewing faculty and staff that interact with VAD patients and reviewing educational competencies (checking blue folders for staff).
