University names first chief organizational learning officer

Dr. Fenner steps into new role at UMHS

On Aug. 1, Dee Fenner, MD, the Harold A. Furlong Professor of Women’s Health, stepped into a new role at UMHS. Dr. Fenner began her work as the new chief clinical officer for University Hospital and the Cardiovascular Center. In this role, Dr. Fenner will partner with Marge Calarco, chief nursing officer for UH/CVC, and Shon Dwyer, executive director for UH/CVC, to provide operational leadership. Dr. Fenner will report to Dave Spahlinger, president of the UMHS Clinical Enterprise and Jeff Desmond, chief medical officer of UMHS. UMHS is taking the next step in its partnership with Ascension and Trinity Health — the founding sponsors of Together Health Network.The health system is now a minority equity partner in the statewide, physician-led clinically integrated network of health care providers. Metro Health Corporation of Wyoming, Michigan and University of Michigan announced yesterday their intent for Metro Health to join the U-M Health System (UMHS).
