Congratulations to James E. Carpenter, M.D., chair and professor of orthopaedic surgery, for his election as vice president of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He will serve a one-year term. Carpenter was originally elected to the board in 2010 and spent the last year as secretary, and the two previous years as treasurer of the organization. He is the head team physician for the U-M Athletic Department and has been a team physician since 1991. Dr. Uren appointed to state committee

Bradley Uren, M.D., assistant professor of emergency medicine at U-M, has been appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to the Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Uren will join the 11-member board, which advises the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on issues affecting prescription drug coverage and Michigan Medicaid programs. “Dr. Uren has extensive knowledge in this field and I am confident he will make positive contributions to this committee,” Snyder said.
