Congratulations to Sally Santen, M.D., Ph.D.! Dr. Santen was awarded the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Hal Jayne Excellence in Education Award, which recognizes “an SAEM member who has made outstanding contributions to emergency medicine through the teaching of others and the improvement of pedagogy.” Her primary work is in the Medical School where she leads curriculum development, student assessment and evaluation. U-M emeritus faculty member visits EC3 thanks to CPR

Rudi Ansbacher, M.D., U-M emeritus faculty member, had a scary day one year ago last month when he went into cardiac arrest while swimming at the U-M North Campus Recreation Building. Thanks to the heroic acts of Julia Walsh, a former U-M student and the lifeguard on-duty during his emergency, he was able to survive. Walsh performed CPR and used an AED machine to keep him alive.
