2019 MSA Diversity Week

Slated for September 9-13, the 2019 MSA Diversity Week celebrates our rich (and enriching!) diversity through an array of events, workshops and discussions (on the Medical Campus as well as NCRC) that will raise awareness, stimulate engaging conversations, create thought-provoking experiences, and inspire dedication to promoting an inclusive, even more diverse workplace. Listings are also on the MSA Intranet homepage – along with those registration links. All are welcome -- staff, students and faculty.

Employee Appreciation Event

The day includes sessions and activities that will help you relax, learn and smile. In addition to ice cream, music, chair massages and chef demos, this year will include development opportunities for those that may want to learn more about financial planning, professional development and/or ways to manage stress. Our development opportunities will be held in the MCHC and Ford Auditoriums and will also be streamed live via Blue Jeans so our offsite areas can participate as well! After 42 years at the University of Michigan, Ron Holz will begin the process of phased retirement later this year. To honor his intellectual contributions to the university, the larger scientific community, and the many other ways in which he has influenced and inspired us, a symposium will be held on May 31, 2019. Army-Navy Wheelchair Hoops Clash at Crisler March 30

There’s another major hoops matchup this March, and it’s happening right here at the Crisler Center. On March 30, the University of Michigan Army vs. Navy Wheelchair Basketball Game returns, celebrating its 14th year! The game is open to the public at no charge with free parking and tickets are not required. Maire’s Journey – an event honoring cardiac sarcoma patients

The Frankel Cardiovascular Center invites you to a special event honoring cardiac sarcoma patients. The event includes a special film screening of the documentary “Maire’s Journey” which chronicles the last months of Maire Kent’s life, one of the Center’s cardiac sarcoma patients, who shares her treatments, travels and ultimately, her one-of-a-kind memorial. Maire’s dying wish was to have her ashes sail from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. Her desire to reach the ocean came to be after she met a blind carpenter, George Wurtzel, who crafted Maire’s small sailboat. The film “Maire’s Journey” takes the audience on a…
