Dr. Maria Jasin (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center) Presents Cancer Biology Research Seminar

The Doctoral Program in Cancer Biology welcomes Maria Jasin, PhD, Member, Developmental Biology Program, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, who will present “Protecting the genome by homologous recombination: BRCA2 and its role in genomic integrity maintenance” on Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 4PM in North Lecture Hall (3rd floor of Med Sci II).

Lauren Bailey (Parent Lab) Present Cancer Biology Journal Club

The next Cancer Biology Research Seminar will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 4PM in 2903 THSL. It will be presented by Lauren Bailey (Parent Lab) who will present a journal club to help us prepare for Dr. Patricia Steeg’s visit on November 28th. The paper is titled “Reactive astrocytic S1P3 signaling modulates the blood-tumor barrier in brain metastases”.

The presenter will be 2nd year graduate student Sydney Smith from Dr. Parkos and Nusrat’s labs who will present the paper, "Self-Maintaining Gut Macrophages Are Essential for Intestinal Homeostasis".

Dr. MIna Bissell to present at the 17th Annual Pathology Research Symposium

The Department of Pathology is pleased to present the 17th Annual Pathology Research Symposium. The day will be filled with talks from faculty and graduate students. The keynote speaker, Dr. Mina Bissell will begin at 11:30 a.m. Dr. Bissell is a Distinguished Scientist in the Biological Systems and Engineering Division of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Her talk is titled, "Why don't we get more cancer: The critical role of extracellular matrix and microenvironment in malignancy and dormancy." A poster session will follow the keynote address.
