Elaine \"Lainey\" Fioravanti, BSN, RN - Nursing Information Services Lainey has positively impacted many staff and leaders, serving the University in a variety of roles as staff nurse, nurse manager, educator, and nursing informatics consulting. She has been the unit liaison coordinator in NIS since 2005 where she supported administrators, nursing directors, managers, supervisors, RN schedulers, staff and administrative assistants with business processes through formal education programs for One-Staff, benchmarking programs, data analytics, quality assurance and engagement in hospital wide committees. Come celebrate retiring Chaplain Tommy Burdette

After 30 years of providing comfort, compassion, and support to patients, families, and staff at UMHS, Tommy Burdette is retiring in December from the Spiritual Care Department. A reception in his honor will be held on Monday, Nov. 28 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. in the lobby of the Towsley Center. All are invited to attend. Inaugural Susan Crumpacker Brown Research Professor Announced

The University of Michigan Regents recently approved a brand new Susan Crumpacker Brown Research Professorship in Depression. Marcia Valenstein, M.D., M.S., Professor of Psychiatry, has been named as the inaugural Susan Crumpacker Brown Professor. Dr. Valenstein has been with the department since 1989 and her work has focused on assessing and improving the quality of mental health services, with an emphasis on improving care for depression. Dr. Carethers awarded mastership in American College Physicians

John M. Carethers, M.D., has been awarded mastership in the American College of Physicians, the national organization of internists. Carethers, the John G. Searle Professor and Chair of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School, works with patients who have familial colon cancer syndromes. His research interests include familial cancer and polyposis syndromes, mechanisms of tumor progression, tumor genetics, tumor markers, DNA mismatch repair, molecular pathology, TGF-beta superfamily signaling in cancer progression, and colorectal cancer disparities.
