Celebrate the retirement of Chief Risk Officer Rick Boothman, J.D.

All faculty and staff are invited to celebrate the retirement of Rick Boothman, J.D., chief risk officer for Michigan Medicine. Boothman joined the organization in 2001 and has also served as an assistant adjunct professor in the Department of Surgery. His retirement celebration will take place from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 15 in the Ford Auditorium lobby. Remarks will begin at 3:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served. C&W Associate Hospital Director Loree Collett to retire

Loree Collett, R.N., B.S.N., MSBA, associate hospital director for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital is retiring on July 13 after a 31-year career with Michigan Medicine. As the associate hospital director, Loree provides strategic direction, administrative and operational leadership for multiple services and functions for children’s and women’s services. Loree came to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in 1987 and began her pediatric nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Timothy R.B. Johnson, M.D. honored for lifetime contributions to international family planning

Timothy R.B. Johnson, M.D. will be honored with the Allan Rosenfield Award for Lifetime Contributions to International Family Planning. Johnson joined the faculty at U-M in 1993 as the Bates Professor of the Diseases of Women and Children and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, professor of women’s studies, and research professor in the Center for Human Growth and Development. In conjunction with the Annual American Society for Men's Health and 2018 Annual American Urological Association meeting in San Francisco, new Erectile Dysfunction Guidelines were released. Joel J. Heidelbaugh, M.D., professor of family medicine and urology, an international expert in men’s health, is one of only two primary care physicians among the authors of these new guidelines. Dr. Andrew Barnosky receives SAEM Humanism Award

Congratulations to Andrew Barnosky, D.O., M.P.H., professor of emergency medicine, who was selected as the recipient of the 2018 Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award. According to SAEM, the award recognizes an SAEM member who exemplifies compassionate, patient-centered care. Barnosky was presented with the award during a ceremony at the recent SAEM Annual Meeting in Indianapolis. Congratulations again to Barnosky on this achievement!

Journal of the American College of Radiology names Ruth Carlos, M.D., M.S., FACR, new editor-in-chief

The American College of Radiology announced that Ruth C. Carlos, M.D., M.S., FACR, will assume the role of editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR) beginning in January 2019. Carlos succeeds Bruce J. Congratulations to the Brighton Health Center - General Medicine, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Pediatrics Hematology Oncology and the Frankel Cardiovascular Center! These sites recently completed successful survey visits with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) for the Patient-Centered Medical Home and Neighborhood program. These Patient-Centered Medical Home payer programs recognize and support primary care and specialist clinic teams that have made substantial progress in implementing and using patient-centered clinical and operational processes and tools, resulting in the delivery of more coordinated, efficient and effective health care.
