Welcome to the 2023 Michigan Medicine Virtual Art Fair

It’s that time of year again – when faculty, staff, learners and family members show off their incredible artistry and creativity in the Michigan Medicine Virtual Art Fair, presented by Headlines and Gifts of Art.

And this year’s submissions certainly did not disappoint.

More than three dozen colleagues submitted incredible pieces, ranging from drawings to watercolor paintings to woodwork and beyond. And many of the pieces were certainly unique, including a baker who expresses herself through intricately designed cakes, a research lab specialist who specializes in calligraphy and a call center representative who creates stained glass pieces.

For some of the artists, their creations were simply offshoots of lifelong hobbies. For others, they came to find art relaxing and fulfilling later in their life.

For instance, Gabriella Rundall, a patient services associate at Briarwood Family Medicine, began painting pots for her wedding and it transformed into her passion from there.

And Jamie Schingeck of the Office of Medical Student Education began taking nature photographs during the pandemic.

“It really became a great outlet for wellness and coping with stress,” Schingeck said.

Please note, later this year, Gifts of Art will host its annual Employee Art Exhibition, which will display team members’ work in the Gifts of Art Gallery, Taubman Health Center, South Lobby floor 1, from Sept. 5-Dec. 1.
