‘The Great Plains’ oil paintings now showing at University Hospital

April 19, 2023  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

Alan Paine Radebaugh has been a professional artist for 50 years.

Born in Boston and raised in Maine and New York, he left the east in 1974. He lived and worked throughout the western U.S. for five years before making his primary studio and home in New Mexico.

Since 2001, his paintings have focused on abstract and representational landscapes. Driving and camping throughout the U.S. and Canada, he has followed rivers from headwaters to confluence to mouth, walked across miles of grassland, and climbed mountains to look out over vast prairies. His paintings meld images from one place with another to create his personal impression of the plains rather than document a particular place.
