All Michigan Medicine team members have access to an online art gallery, featuring works of John Gutoskey.
The flower bouquets in this exhibit, “Flowers for My People,” were made in response to the florists and bakers, who, out of “religious convictions,” refuse to create and provide floral arrangements or cakes for same sex marriages and other celebratory, queer events. These artworks were made in honor of marriage equality and queer relationships and dedicated to any members of the LGBTQ+ community who have experienced discrimination.
These prints of bouquets are intended to capture the ephemeral qualities of cut flowers and are meant to represent the rainbow of diversity through the variety of flowers and colors.
