State fire inspectors will return to main medical campus for reinspection
Inspectors with the State Bureau of Fire Services are scheduled to be on the main medical campus on Tuesday, March 28 for reinspection pertaining to issues identified during their visit in November 2022.
Here are some things to keep in mind prior to this visit:
Corridor clearance
Corridor clutter (unattended wheelchairs, stretchers and other equipment) creates a safety hazard for everyone. These items are both trip hazards and block the means of egress. Please ensure that corridors, exits, extinguishers, pull alarms and medical gas valves are kept unobstructed.
Doors
Please do NOT tape door latches and do NOT place items such as towels over the doors so they don’t close and latch properly. Doors that don’t operate as intended can allow smoke and fire to spread.
Please do NOT use door wedges to prop doors open.
Remember R.A.C.E.
R – Rescue: Rescue occupants from immediate danger area
A – Alarm: Alarm; Dial 9-1-1 to report location, alert occupants, pull fire alarm
C – Contain: Close doors and windows, clear corridors, shut off med gas
E – Extinguish (if trained to do so) or Evacuate
and P.A.S.S. for using fire extinguishers
P – Pull: Pull the pin
A – Aim: Aim at the base of the fire
S – Squeeze: Squeeze the handle
S – Sweep: Sweep from side to side
If you encounter doors that do not fully close and latch or other facility issues, please submit a work order through the Support Service Link.
