Plan ahead and expect delays: Upcoming road closures, parking adjustments

Please be advised that upcoming special events and construction projects are expected to cause road closures around Ann Arbor.

Plan ahead and expect delays and alert patients if they will be traveling in the area. 

Here’s what you need to know:

  • On Saturday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the following streets are scheduled to be closed for the annual Monroe Street Fair:
    • Monroe Street between Tappan and State Street
    • Tappan between Monroe and South University
    • Oakland from Monroe to Hill Street (closed to through traffic only).
    • In addition, street parking will be suspended on:
      • State Street between Huron and Packard (portion already closed for construction)
      • William between South Fifth Avenue and State Street
      • Tappan between Monroe and Hill Street
      • East University between South University and Hill Street
      • North University between State Street and Fletcher
      • Church Street between Geddes and Hill Street
      • Hill Street between Packard and Church

  • On Saturday, April 1, U-M will be holding the Spring Football Game at Michigan Stadium. In order to provide parking for attendees, it is requested that personal and university vehicles be parked at off-site locations away from the football stadium at the end of today, March 31. The lots to be vacated include:
    • SC2 – Blue lot between Hoover St. and Keech St.
    • SC3 – Service Center at Admin Services Building
    • SC4 – Yellow lot on Kipke Dr.
    • SC5 – Yellow lot on Kipke Dr.
    • SC6 – Orange lot west of Kipke Dr.
    • SC7 – Orange lot east of Kipke Dr.
    • SC10 – the gate will be closed at 11pm on Friday and only accessible via radio. If you have a U-M-supplied radio, you can open the gate to access the area during the closure. If you think you may be scheduled to work during that time and may need your radio reprogrammed, please contact the radio shop prior to the day of the event. The gates will reopen after the events.
    • SC11 – Blue lot on Hoover St. at the Physical Properties Building
    • SC16 – Yellow lot on Kipke Dr. at CSSB
    • SC32 – Visitor lot on Greene St.
    • SC35 – Yellow lot between Keech St. and Hoover St.
    • SC36 – Orange lot on Main St. & Keech St.
    • SC37 – Blue lot on Hoover St. at Revelli Hall
    • SC41 – Orange lot on Hoover St.
    • W32 – Yellow lot  (“The Coliseum” lot) on Hill St and Division St.
    • W33 – Blue lot on Greene St.
    • W34 – Blue lot on Greene St.
    • W35 – Blue lot on Hoover St. at Greene St.
    • W38 – Yellow lot on Division St. at Hill St.
    • W39   Yellow lot along S. Fifth Ave.
    • W40 – Yellow lot along S. Fifth Ave.
    • W41 – Yellow lot along S. Fifth Ave.

  • From Monday, April 3 until Friday, Aug. 1, work is scheduled to begin on Platt Road between Packard and Huron Parkway.
    • Platt will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes (one lane in each direction).
    • Driveway access for local traffic will be maintained but may include delay during working hours. Cross-street traffic will be maintained as much as possible.

  • From April 3 until May 8, the westbound lane of East Hoover Avenue between State Street and South Division is expected to be closed.
    • East Hoover will only be open to eastbound traffic during the duration of the project.
    • Vehicles traveling westbound will be detoured north on State Street, northwest on Packard, west on Hill Street, south on South Division Street and west on East Hoover.
    • Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.

  • On Wednesday, April 5 from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m., the following streets are anticipated to be closed for the Take Back the Night/Standing Tough Against Rape rally and march:
    • State Street from William to Madison
    • Madison from State Street to Thompson
    • Thompson from Madison to William
    • William from Thompson to Fourth Avenue
    • Fourth Avenue from William to East Liberty
    • East Liberty from Fourth Avenue to Maynard
    • Maynard from East Liberty to William
    • William from Maynard to State Street
