MiChart Upgrade is this Sunday, March 12
This Sunday, March 12, is the next upgrade for MiChart, the electronic health system for Michigan Medicine.
This is the first planned upgrade for 2023 with a goal to introduce new features, limit impact to the organization, and maintain regulatory requirements.
Daylight Saving Time begins March 12!
In addition, March 12 marks the beginning of Eastern Daylight Saving Time (DST) which will result in skipping the hour from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. Once the time change occurs, this means the MiChart downtime for the upgrade will begin at 3 a.m.
About the upgrade:
The newest upgrade will enable some key changes and enhancements, including:
· Redesigned Outpatient Synopsis view.
· Streamlined communications activity.
· Updates for review flowsheets.
· Happy Together Notes to display other organizations’ notes in chart review.
· Full transition to “Book It” for improved and faster appointment scheduling.
· Brain Sidebar Replacing the Single-patient Work List for Nurses
· Transition from Registration Workflow to Navigators.
· EVS and Transport modules will be replaced with Hospital Logistics.
· Transition to Navigator-Based Study Review for Cardiology
· A Single-Screen solution for Pharmacists when verifying orders.
· Preassign Patients to Bays on the Status Board.
· Outpatient Procedural Check in and Surgical Admissions Updates
In addition to the Spring MiChart upgrade, four other MiChart projects will go live on March 12:
· Elsevier Clinical Practice Model (CPM) Content Upgrade.
· Implementation of the Stage 5 Anesthesia module.

Downtime information:
MiChart System downtime for the upgrade will be from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, March 12. Guidelines and procedures to follow during this time may be found on the MiChart Spring Upgrade project page.
The MiChart system is now locked down. For more information on any limitations resulting from the lockdown see the Workflow Limitations From Lockdown for System Maintenance Preparations tip sheet. Please note – you must log in to access the MiChart information. The MiChart teams will be unable to make changes to the system during this time until the activation is complete on Sunday, March 12.
Training materials:
Training materials are available for all MiChart users to review on the MiChart Spring Upgrade project page. The content is organized by role and contains slides of relevant changes, with links to tip sheets and/or videos where applicable. All clinicians and MiChart users are encouraged to review the content to ensure a seamless upgrade and go-live.

Go-live updates and Getting Help:
Updates will be posted regularly to the MiChart Spring Upgrade project page following the downtime. Watch also for the “Daily Flash” newsletter which will be distributed daily to provide updates on changes and new tip sheets.

o Submit a ticket through the Michigan Medicine Help Center
§ Include the following information in your submission:
· Workstation TermID.
· Is the customer on premises or remote?
· The exact time of the incident.
· Current activity/screen in MiChart.
· Are others experiencing the same issue?
· Are applications other than MiChart experiencing issues?
· All other MiChart upgrade questions or related issues:
