Free Life Sciences Orchestra concert coming March 26
The LSO’s final concert of the season will feature the winners of the orchestra’s Concerto Competition: Andrew Custer, performing Grøndahl’s Trombone Concerto, and Thor Sigurdson, performing Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D major. The LSO will also play Tchaikovsky’s Festival Overture on the Danish National Anthem, and Stravinsky’s famous Firebird suite.
The concert will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 at Hill Auditorium. No tickets are required and entry is free.
The LSO, which is made up of faculty, staff, students, alumni and family members from the U-M medical, health, science and engineering community, is led by Yeo Ryeong Ahn, a doctoral student in orchestral conducting at the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance. She is assisted by Luca Antonucci, who is also in the doctoral conducting program.
The orchestra is part of the Gifts of Art program, which brings the world of art and music to Michigan Medicine and accepts donations to support its concerts. The LSO gives members an outlet for their musical talents and a chance to interact with one another across related academic disciplines and professions.
Masks are encouraged unless community COVID-19 level is high, in which case they will be required.
