Total P-Tube shutdown scheduled for Feb. 18
Please be advised that a total P-Tube shutdown of all stations in all buildings is scheduled to take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18.
During this time, the P-Tube servers will be upgraded and necessary maintenance will be done.
Departments that use the P-Tube for sending/receiving routine and stat supplies, medications, blood and specimens to/from inpatient units will be managing those functions as noted below:
Blood Bank: Individuals can pick up blood products at the Blood Bank window or call the Blood Bank to arrange for a lab tech to deliver. For questions call 734-936-6888.
Pathology: Will pick up all routine and STAT specimens.
ALL STAT and ancillary/short stay locations (areas not included below) specimen pick-ups::Call 734-936-6777 for a runner to be dispatched.
Inpatient UH/CVC pickups will be every 20 minutes: C, D units ONLY. Questions? Phone 734-936-6777.
Inpatient C&W specimen pickups will be every 20 minutes: All inpatient units with temporary specimen pick up locations. Questions? Phone 734-936-6777.
AES and CES: Continuous runners from pathology will pick up specimens from both locations. There will also be runners going between AES and CES for COVID-19 testing that is only performed in CES.
Pharmacy will deliver all routine and stat meds, excluding controlled substances, to the patient’s medication cassette or medication cubby. Routine pharmacy runs will occur hourly with a goal of delivering all routine medications within 90 minutes of order placement.
Stat delivery will occur as needed between the routine hourly runs.
Please plan ahead (allowing at least 1-2 hours) to obtain refills on products such as ICU drips or other PRN medications. Routine requests for these items should be submitted as a Message to Pharmacy via MiChart.
All STAT refill requests, including controlled substance medications, should be communicated via a phone call directed to your unit’s designated pharmacy satellite for coordinated delivery.
Taubman Ambulatory Care Pharmacy: Paper prescriptions may not be tubed during the downtime. Prescriptions must be electronically prescribed, with the exception of compounded medications. Prescriptions for compounded medications must be faxed to 734-936-7242.Material Services will staff appropriately to hand-deliver all routine and stat supplies. Stats will be handled immediately while non-stat will be delivered within an hour.
