Faculty workshop: Communication and management in the electronic era
The volume of communication, teamwork and project planning that occurs via email can make an inbox sandstorm! Yet, how to manage projects and maintain effective, asynchronous via email isn’t always intuitive. It’s easy to feel bogged down by email, or even make damaging cultural missteps in attempts to triage the volumes of communication.
This two-hour workshop will provide and give an opportunity to practice strategies for (a) effective management of priorities, projects and tasks, and (b) professional electronic communication that is clear, concise, assertive, positive and collaborative.
Attendees should bring their office laptops and be prepared to tailor and configure their Outlook settings and other software settings with the group.
In small groups, we will use scenarios to practice communication skills, such as addressing emotionally sensitive topics, raising concerns collaboratively and delegating tasks that position a team for follow-through on key results.
Date: Thursday, May 25
