‘Happiness, Just Because’ acrylic paintings now on display

Sareka Unique is an abstract artist living and working in Ypsilanti. 

Using a variety of strokes and marks, she paints intuitively and uses color as a tool to evoke vibrancy and joy. With serendipitous marks and expressions, Unique invites you to experience happiness, just because. She challenges the notion that there must be a reason to be happy rather than it originating from within. 

She grew up in Detroit and studied visual communication technology at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Later, she fell in love with illustration and surface pattern design and eventually gave into her calling to paint.

Now, her work is on display at Michigan Medicine:
