You’re invited: DEI & Well-Being Round Table Discussion

The next DEI & Well-Being Round Table Discussion will take place on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 at 10 a.m.  

The discussion will be hybrid, with an option to attend in person in the Danto Auditorium or on Zoom (passcode 712516).

The January topic will focus on confronting and coping with microaggressions in the health care space. 

Microaggressions are “the everyday verbal, nonverbal and environmental slights, snubs or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, which communicate hostile, derogatory or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership.” (2010).

Guest facilitator Chelsea Fisk, MI-AORTA research lab technician, will help share anonymous stories from those in our community who have experienced microaggressions in the health care space to help us:

  • better empathize with those who have been a target of a microaggression,
  • increase our understanding of the lasting emotional and mental impact of experiencing a microaggression,
  • and critically think about how to be an ally and support our colleagues who have been micro-aggressed.
