Our million meal mission is going strong

December 13, 2022  //  FOUND IN: Our Employees

The holiday season is here, giving us a chance to reflect on all that brings us joy and happiness. It also gives us a chance to consider ways to give back to those experiencing food insecurity and other challenges.

That’s why our Michigan Medicine mission of providing the equivalent of 1 million meals to neighbors is so important. Its key aim is to promote health and prevent illness and disease.

When the organization started this phase of its food gathering campaign, 313,000 equivalent meals had already been donated based on the compassion and generosity of many. Since then, further contributions have advanced the current total to approximately 345,000 meals. That means Michigan Medicine is more than a third of the way to its ambitious goal.

“We are well on our way, but we have more to do to as the needs remain so great,” said Tony Denton, senior vice president and chief operating officer. “Our continuing efforts will go a long way toward building bridges and connecting with individuals, families and communities across Washtenaw County.”

Your help is needed to keep the momentum going. Please consider donating to Food Gatherers, which provides healthy and nutritious meals to our neighbors in need.

For every $1 raised, Food Gatherers can provide three meals, so a donation of any size is greatly appreciated. Click here to make a donation.

Thank you for all you have done to advance health for those in our community.
