Just as winter weather makes its grand entrance, the warm hearts of Michigan Medicine faculty and staff have ensured that every eligible adult hospital patient will receive a beautiful poinsettia the week of Dec. 19.

Organizers of the “Poinsettias for Patients” program set a goal to achieve donations of 750 plants — a goal that was surpassed this year with 774 plants ordered for patients.

“The generosity of our team members is so amazing,” said Linda Larin, M.B.A., FACHE, chief operating officer for the Adult Hospitals at U-M Health. “Thank you to everyone who has made it possible for us to present patients with this special gift during the holidays.”

“Being in the hospital, away from family and loved ones during the holidays can feel very lonely,” said Devin Lippert, M.B.A., administrative director for the Office of Patient Experience.

“The poinsettias will lift patient spirits during the holidays,” said Lippert, “and proceeds from the plant sales will help provide amenities and comfort items for patients and families throughout the year.”
