Metal leaf paintings on display at Michigan Medicine

Born in New York, and with Persian and Japanese roots, Michelle Sakhai’s contemporary art is influenced by all three cultures. 

Family trips to Japan initially exposed her to metal leaf and inspired her to become a pioneer in this medium. 

She describes her oil paint and metal leaf works in this way, “Art offers connection. I believe and trust in the energy of the creative spirit as a healing force on the earth. With a focus on light and energy, each stroke serves as a vehicle for healing and peace.” 

Sakhai’s paintings are exhibited in galleries around the world including Tokyo, Ibiza, Miami and New York City. Now, you can see them at Michigan Medicine:
