Travel dining museum collection now on display at Michigan Medicine

Travel, whether by airplane, train, steamship, car ferry or even spaceship, is something we no longer take for granted.

This exhibition from the collection of the International Museum of Dinnerware Design celebrates the dining that takes place when exploring new places and meeting new people.

Viewers may become nostalgic for the now defunct Pan Am Airlines when they view dinnerware, dining menus and even a vintage toy tin airplane.

Remember the dining cars on the streamliner trains? Reimagine a journey with your family on the car ferry across Lake Michigan while aboard the SS Badger, or even visualize Captain Picard having tea on the Starship Enterprise.

You can find all that as part of an exhibit on display at Michigan Medicine:

Where: Gifts of Art Gallery – Taubman Health Center North Lobby, Floor 1.

When: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily through Dec. 2
