October is almost here — and that means it’s time for Quality Month!

This year, the organization will host a number of events, learning sessions and keynotes that will highlight the theme of “Just Culture and Psychological Safety.” All sessions will take place online. 

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to network with colleagues around several relevant and timely issues, watch poster teams present their work, and learn about important quality topics at Michigan Medicine!

 Kicking off with a keynote

 The keynote will kick things off at 9 a.m. on Oct. 4 and will be delivered by Jo Shapiro, M.D.  Shapiro is associate professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the Harvard Medical School and director of the Center for Professionalism and Peer Support at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

The Quality Month celebration will also include a learning session on just culture led by Nicole Templeton, administrative director of patient safety. Additionally, a panel discussion on just culture and psychological safety will be led by Kathrynn Thompson, high reliability lead.

Poster sharing sessions will be featured throughout the month and a wrap-up session on Oct. 27 will feature this year’s exemplar poster teams and the announcement of this year’s Jack Billi Award for Inspiring Quality Improvement honoree.
