RISE makes call for funding applications

RISE (Research. Innovation. Scholarship. Education.) is sponsoring two funding opportunities — 12-month fellowships and mini-grants.
These funding opportunities support individuals in developing and piloting health sciences education innovation (HSEI) ideas as they develop as innovators.
RISE specifically seeks HSEI ideas that will impact science, health and/or health care. Applicants may apply for both a RISE fellowship and/or a mini-grant; however, only one source of funding will be awarded.
RISE fellowship
Individuals selected for a RISE fellowship will receive:
- 0.15 FTE support (or the equivalent 15% reduction in other responsibilities for staff and learners to accommodate the effort required for this fellowship: Jan. 1, 2023-Dec. 31, 2023)
- Innovation competency development through monthly RISE Deeper Dive Sessions (3 hours/month)
- Individualized coaching
- Up to $5,000 to support their proposed health science education innovation plan
RISE mini-grant funding
Individuals selected for a RISE mini-grant will receive:
- Innovation competency development through monthly RISE Deeper Dive Sessions (3 hours/month)
- Individualized coaching
- Up to $2,500 to support their proposed health science education innovation plan
All Michigan Medicine faculty, staff, and learners (medical or graduate students, residents, fellows, and post-doctoral fellows) are eligible to apply if they can modify their position/program requirements to accommodate the required 15% reduction in their employment or education responsibilities.
