Plan ahead and expect delays: Road work and special events around Ann Arbor

Please be advised of upcoming road work scheduled to take place around Ann Arbor.

Plan ahead and expect delays and alert patients if they will be traveling in the area. Here’s what you need to know:

  • From Thursday, July 14 until Monday, July 18, East University between South University and Willard is scheduled to be closed to vehicle traffic in both directions.
    • Southbound East University vehicles will be detoured south on Tappan Street, east on Hill Street to East University.
    • Northbound East University vehicles will be detoured east on Hill Street and north on Church Street.
    • Local access will be maintained at all times and pedestrian traffic will be maintained on the west side of East University.
  • Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, East William Street between Maynard and Thompson streets is scheduled to be closed to traffic in both directions.
    • Eastbound traffic will be detoured north on Thompson Street, east on East Liberty Street, south on Maynard Street and back to East William.
    • Westbound traffic will be detoured north on Maynard Street, west on East Liberty Street, south on Thompson Street and back to East William.
    • Local access will be maintained at all times and pedestrian traffic will be maintained on the north side of East William.
  • From 7 a.m. until midnight on Friday, July 15, the following streets are expected to be closed for the Rolling Sculpture Car Show special event:
    • South Main Street between Huron Street and William Street.
    • Liberty Street between South Ashley and Fifth Avenue.
    • Washington Street between South Ashley and Division (except for traffic entering or exiting the Washington Street parking structure).
    • Washington between Fourth and Division will open at 3:30 p.m. Closure of this section will provide a holding area and help alleviate traffic backups on Huron Street?.
