The faculty and staff at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital stole the spotlight this week at Headlines.

On Monday, there was a look back at Superhero Day, when faculty and staff dressed as their favorite characters to bring joy to pediatric patients. Later in the week was “May the 4th be with you” Star Wars Day. Then readers learned about last year’s baby boom and how team members are preparing for another uptick in births this year.

Superhero window washers surprise kids at Mott

Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain America and Iron Man were among the superheroes who visited Mott late last week as part of National Superhero Day. Faculty and staff — and even a few window washers — dressed up in their favorite costumes to bring joy to patients and families. Check out photos from the unforgettable day.

May the 4th be with you: C&W celebrates Star Wars Day

The festivities didn’t stop after Superhero Day at Mott. On Wednesday, team members donned their favorite Star Wars gear in honor of May the 4th. And that’s not all — even virtual story time had a Star Wars theme! Click here for more about the festivities.

Celebrating Mother’s Day with many new little victors

Last summer and fall, Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital saw a surge in births — with more than 2,500 babies welcomed between June 7 and Dec. 7. That was a 17 percent increase over the previous year. Another rise in births is projected to begin later this month. Learn more about the Littlest Victors who are about spend their first Mother’s Day with their moms!

It’s ok to talk about mental health

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This is a time dedicated to raising awareness of those living with mental or behavioral health issues and to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health. This week’s Headlines story gives readers insight into the prevalence of mental health issues and provides faculty and staff with essential resources should they need to reach out for help.
