MLearning replacement coming soon: What’s happening and resources to help you prepare for a successful transition!

May 4, 2022  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

This July, MLearning — the system Michigan Medicine faculty, staff, and students use to register for and complete many training activities, including their regular “mandatories” — will be replaced.

In conjunction with this change, the “MLearning” brand is being retired, and will become “Cornerstone Learning.”

As announced in February, the upgrade to Cornerstone Learning is part of a broader effort to develop and introduce a new online Talent Management platform to serve all of Michigan Medicine, including faculty, staff and learners from U-M Health, the medical school and shared services units.

Cornerstone Learning will bring new features and benefits

As highlighted in this “Quick Look” video, Cornerstone Learning offers many advantages over the existing system, including:

  • A more modern, user-friendly interface that makes it easier for individuals to search for relevant learning content and manage their progress toward goals. It also enables managers to assign and track learning among members of their teams.
  • Greater reliability and flexibility — the cloud-based system will be updated regularly, and will enable learners to access training anywhere, anytime, using virtually any browser on any device.
  • Integrates additional types of learning resources (including LinkedIn Learning) into a single, convenient hub, making it easier for managers and staff to develop customized learning plans, and providing everyone with easier access to a wider variety of professional and personal growth opportunities.

Prepare now for brief system downtime (July 14-18)

To accommodate the change-over to Cornerstone Learning, the current MLearning system will be taken offline on July 14. Cornerstone Learning will be available starting on the morning of July 18. (Note: In-person training activities for which people were already registered will continue as scheduled.)

Managers and supervisors are encouraged to be aware and plan ahead — including by encouraging members of their teams to either register and/or complete any online training activities BEFORE July 14 — or plan to do so in Cornerstone Learning on or after July 18.
