Celebrating Mother’s Day with many new Little Victors

In Spring 2021, researchers at Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital predicted a COVID-19 baby boom, with a 10-15 percent surge in births that summer and fall.

Indeed, from June 7 through Dec. 7, 2,545 babies were born at Von Voigtlander — a 17 percent increase from the year before.

Another surge on the way

2021 doesn’t appear to be a fluke. Von Voigtlander’s Birth Center is already preparing for another estimated rise in births beginning this May and projected to last until the end of August.

Von Voigtlander patients will receive potted plants this weekend.

“Our teams in Von Voigtlander, Mott and our colleagues in the Adult Hospitals have been partnering together over the past year to ensure we provide all of our patients with the safest, highly-reliable care possible,” said Luanne Thomas Ewald, M.H.A., FACHE, chief operating officer for Mott and Von Voigtlander.

“The fact that we could care for this record number of moms and their Little Victors — and are about to do it again — is a true testament to our teams and their ability to be flexible and innovative while always putting our patients first.”

As for Mother’s Day weekend? The Von Voigtlander team expects to care for a slightly above average number of moms and their babies over the next few days.

“To celebrate our moms, we will be presenting our Von Voigtlander patients with a cute potted plant and a keepsake card,” Ewald said. “We love our moms and always appreciate them putting their trust in us.”

The entire team at Von Voigtlander wishes all of our mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, friends — and any woman who cares for loved ones — a very Happy Mother’s Day!
