Big Hearts for Seniors presents ‘Big Hearted Stories: Journeys’
On May 17, Big Hearts for Seniors will present Big Hearted Stories: Journeys, which will be held in front of a live audience at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater.
This engaging program will provide a platform for talented local storytellers to share their heartwarming, true-life experiences around the theme of ‘Journeys.’ The event will feature emcee and storyteller Vic Strecher, Ph.D., professor of health behavior and health education in the U-M School of Public Health.
Big Hearts for Seniors is comprised of five community-supported programs of Michigan Medicine that serve older adults. Together, Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels, Housing Bureau for Seniors, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Silver Club Memory Programs, and the Turner Senior Wellness Program help seniors seeking access to home-delivered meals, sustainable housing options, support to remain independent, learning in retirement opportunities, relief from social isolation, and programs for those with dementia. All funds raised are used to provide needed services to older adults.
Since 2006, Big Hearts for Seniors has raised more than $500,000 through various events including the Big House/Big Heart races, silent auctions and documentary film screenings. In 2020 and 2021, Big Hearts for Seniors presented Big Hearted Stories virtually. Last year, Big Hearted Stories: Generations raised more than $94,000.
Visit the Big Hearts for Seniors website for more information on the event, to donate or to purchase tickets. General admission tickets are $25, and VIP tickets (which includes complimentary parking, access to the VIP reception and event admission) are $75.
All attendees can participate in the silent auction which will include more than 100 items such as gift cards, art, jewelry and much more! The auction will be open May 10-17 online, and in person at the event.
