‘Women’s History in Music’ concert set for March 22
For Women’s History Month, Cecilia Smith & Lafayette Harris, Jr., will present a free concert featuring pieces composed by women, pieces about women, and pieces that were composed to bring awareness for the need for equity and equality for all.
Cecilia Smith (vibraphone) is a composer, arranger and teaching artist who received a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Masterpiece Award for works presented at the Kennedy Center.
Lafayette Harris, Jr. (piano) is a composer whose most recent album went to #1 on the Jazzweek Jazz charts in February 2020.
He has shared the stage with the Duke Ellington Legacy Orchestra, Houston Person, Max Roach and Ernestine Anderson, among others.
