Jennifer Romano, M.D., M.S., elected Second Vice President of Society of Thoracic Surgeons
Mott pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon Jennifer Romano, M.D., M.S. was elected Second Vice President of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons during the organization’s 58th Annual Meeting held virtually Jan. 29-30.
Through a staged ascension, Romano will hold the First Vice President position in 2023 and become President in 2024. Romano is one of a few congenital heart surgeons and the first female to be elected to serve in this honorary position.
“I am so honored to have this tremendous opportunity to represent women within the field of cardiothoracic surgery and to lead the most amazing organization representing cardiothoracic surgeons worldwide as well as the patients we serve,” Romano said. “This role is the direct result of the outstanding mentors throughout my career who gave me the opportunity to step up and stand out.”
