Plan ahead: Vehicle, pedestrian traffic alterations around Ann Arbor
Please be advised that the City of Ann Arbor will be performing construction on the following city streets due to the installation of underground conduit, fiber optic cable and working in vaults (handholes):
- North University/Geddes Avenue near the bus station: Sidewalk and lane closures expected.
- Miller Avenue between First and Ashley Streets: Sidewalk and lane closures expected.
- Ann Street Between First and Ashley Streets: Sidewalk and lane closures expected.
- William Street between State Street and First Street: Bike lane and sidewalk closure expected.
Work, which began yesterday, Jan. 19, is scheduled to continue through Friday, Feb 4 (dates are subject to change). Intermittent sidewalk and parking space closures, thru traffic closures, and meter bagging will occur. Loading/unloading of construction materials, removal and installation of concrete driveway openings and approaches, and the removal and replacement of pavement.
Pedestrian traffic will be maintained but may also experience detours, as required.
Additionally, South University Avenue between East University Avenue and Church Street is scheduled to be closed between Monday, Jan. 24 and Friday, July 31, 2024 for the construction of a new building.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on ?Monday, Jan. 24, eastbound South University Avenue will be detoured south on East University Avenue, then east on Hill Street, then north on Church Street, back to South University Avenue. Westbound South University Avenue will be maintained.
Pedestrian traffic on the south side of South University Avenue will be detoured to the north side of South University Avenue.
