Nourish Your Whole Self with intuitive eating
Based on the concept of intuitive eating, Nourish Your Whole Self helps you tune into your body and mind, to reconnect with the sensations that arise from within. With this awareness, you are better able to make choices that help you feel nourished.
A growing body of research supports shifting the focus away from dieting and weight loss towards a more thoughtful approach. That’s where the Nourish Your Whole Self program comes in.
“Nourish Your Whole Self” is a free, 12-week program based on the concept of intuitive eating. It can help you tune in to yourself to make choices that help you feel nourished. Best of all, you will learn how to get off the cycle of losing and regaining weight, be thankful for your body, and find joy in movement.
Registration is now open for 12-week sessions starting the weeks of Jan. 24, Jan. 31 or Feb. 7. To allow for a more personalized experience, space is limited to 150 participants. Must a U-M faculty or staff member.
One-on-one personalized coaching, and more
Once enrolled in the 12-week program, you will be assigned an MHealthy coach trained in Intuitive Eating (IE) who will support and guide you through the program. Your coach will:
- Work with you to define your goal and then help you achieve it.
- Connect with you one-on-one (via Zoom, telephone, email) on a regular basis to answer your questions, provide support, and give you the tools needed to make informed choices.
- Identify the tools that may be the most important for you.
In addition to personalized coaching, you will also receive weekly videos and worksheets focused on intuitive eating principles, such as rejecting the diet mentality, honoring your hunger, coping with your emotions with kindness, respecting your body and more.
‘A much better relationship with food’
Nourish Your Whole Self was launched by MHealthy earlier this year and was met with overwhelming interest from the U-M community.
“Talking through issues I was having and having an unbiased opinion to listen to (was helpful),” said one participant. “This whole experience and having (my coach) to talk to was beyond insightful and helpful! I have a much better relationship with food than I did.”
Said another past participant: “My coach allowed me to make choices about my health and create a plan that met my individual needs. I really liked being empowered to make my own decisions about my eating and lifestyle. I had a really great coach, who was very supportive, empathetic and caring.”
