M-BRISC to hold first-ever virtual scientific symposium

The Michigan Biological Research Initiative on Sex Differences in Cardiovascular Disease (M-BRISC) program is hosting its first annual virtual scientific symposium.

The event will take place on Monday, Feb. 7 from noon until 3:30 p.m.

Keynote lecturer, C. Noel Bairey Merz, M.D., Professor of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Smidt Heart Institute, will be presenting on “Sex Differences in the Cardiovascular System: An example of Biological Variable (SABV).”

There will also be a presentation from the National Institutes of Health’s Chyren Hunter, Ph.D., on “Sex as a Biologic Variable,” and M-BRISC members will participate in a virtual panel discussion regarding “Approaches to Studying Sex Differences.”
