Last call: Flu vaccination deadline is today
Time is running out to help protect patients, families and colleagues this flu season!
That’s because Michigan Medicine faculty, staff, students and volunteers are reminded that the organization’s influenza vaccination policy requires them to receive their annual vaccine by today, Dec. 1, or have received an approved exemption or declination.
Disciplinary actions will be taken for those not compliant with the policy.
Employees who still need their flu shots have a few remaining options:
- Occupational Health Services (OHS) is offering its final flu shot clinic from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. today (Dec. 1). Make sure to have your ID badge when you arrive. Registration is required for all flu shot clinics.
- Clinical areas can check with their flu liaisons to administer the vaccine.
- Employees can use their local retail pharmacy or primary care physicians. Documentation must be provided, with the employee full name and UMID on all pages, and sent directly to OHS via email to Flu-Occ-Health@med.umich.edu. OHS is experiencing a high volume of submissions, so it may take up to 3 business days to process into HealthRx.
Getting the vaccine demonstrates Michigan Medicine’s continued commitment to providing the safest possible environment for our patients, families, employees and visitors. Those with an approved exemption or declination will be required to wear a mask in patient care areas for the entire flu season.
Members of AFSCME, BMETs of the Skilled Trades Union, IUOE, and MNA/UMPNC unions should refer to their union contracts and/or memoranda of understanding pertaining to flu vaccinations for additional information that applies to each of the respective unions.
