All Michigan Medicine faculty and staff are invited to view two free online concerts this month, hosted by Gifts of Art:

Noon-1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16: Kerrytown Concert House concert by Paxton/Spangler Septet

Works from the program Anthem for the New Nation by South African jazz pianist and composer Abdullah Ibrahim come to life with the soul and energy of Detroit to tell a story of pain, suffering, joy and hope. This ensemble assembles an all-star cast of Detroit musicians to pay a respectful and melodic tribute to the great master, a lifelong influence on Paxton & Spangler.

John “TBone” Paxton (trombone and vocals) and RJ Spangler (drums) are best known for their nine-piece band, Planet D Nonet, a down and dirty little swing band from Detroit. For more info, please visit www.med.umich.edu/goa/performances.htm.

Noon-1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30: Folk and neo-soul singer/songwriter Abigail Stauffer with Chris Dupont

Folk singer-songwriter Abigail Stauffer turns acoustic, pop and neo-soul music into an invitation to heal and be healed. Each song is a captivating blend of confidence and vulnerability, crafting a balance of pain, hope and joy. Her music and live performances evoke so much emotion, it’s hard to believe each song isn’t specifically about you. Writing about things that really matter, Stauffer will warm your heart and serenade your soul.

She is joined for this performance by Chris Dupont. Presented in partnership with Great Lakes Performing Artist Associates and performed at the Stone Chalet. For more info, please visit www.med.umich.edu/goa/performances.htm.
