You’re invited: CBSSM virtual seminar
All Michigan Medicine faculty and staff are invited to the next seminar hosted by the Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine.
The seminar, entitled “The Leaky Pipeline in Emergency Medicine: Understanding Factors Pushing Women Away from the Specialty,” will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
It will be delivered by Adrianne Haggins, M.D., assistant professor of emergency medicine at Michigan Medicine.
She will discuss the fact that despite an approximate 1:1 ratio of women to men in U.S. medical schools, the proportion of women applicants to emergency medicine has persisted in the 33-37% range in the past decade. The talk will improve understanding of the gender gap in EM and inform interventions to prevent talent attrition.
