This past weekend, the FBI, with the assistance of the U-M Division of Public Safety and Security, identified an individual responsible for posting an online threat against the women of the University of Michigan. Recently, the FBI provided an update on the joint investigation.

Based on the FBI update, there is no current nor pending threat to the community from the individual responsible for the post. During the interview, agents assessed the individual had neither the means nor the opportunity to carry out the threat.

Threat assessment includes accounting for all information available and the totality of the circumstances such as evaluating an individual’s means, opportunities and influence to cause harm.
