Logistics, Transportation & Parking recently announced changes to campus bus service starting Oct. 24. Pre-pandemic routes are being restored and some currently operating routes will be discontinued.

With these changes come additional transportation options for Michigan Medicine commuters, and a few changes to existing service.

Here are some quick highlights:

  • Newly added travel options include: Commuter North and South, North-East Shuttle, Diag-to-Diag Express, and Northwood Express
  • Other operating routes include: Med Express, Wall Street-NIB/Express, Crisler Express (PM service), Glazier Express, Bursley-Baits, Northwood, and Oxford Shuttle
  • Med Express
    • Med Express will be quicker and more direct, still serving NCRC at Hayward/Hubbard, but without the loop through the NCRC parking lot.  The North-East Shuttle route will now serve both the north and south sides of the NCRC as it did prior to the pandemic.
    • Med Express service will be at pre-pandemic levels. This service was changed during the pandemic to compensate for the lack of Commuter and North-East Shuttle routes. Please note that Med Express will end at 7:30 p.m. and the Commuter routes should be used for later trips.
    • With existing and newly added routes, overall passenger capacity is increased between Glazier Way, the Fuller Road area and Michigan Medicine.
  • Wall Street-NIB/Express: Routes and schedules remain the same.
  • Crisler Express
    • Crisler Express AM service is replaced with the Commuter North route, which will start at 5:30 a.m. and operate at a 10-minute frequency.  The Crisler Express AM previously operated every 20 minutes.
    • Crisler Express PM service will be operated by U-M Transit in blue buses at the same frequency (every 20 minutes), with a slight adjustment to start and end times. Commuter South will provide an additional option for return trips.
  • Glazier Express
    • Glazier Express will be operated by Golden Limousine and will run with the same number of shuttles that it did prior to the pandemic.
    • Commuters from Glazier Way will now have the Commuter route as an additional option and along Fuller Road, the Commuter and North-East Shuttle routes provide additional options.
    • With existing and newly added routes, overall passenger capacity is increased between Glazier Way, the Fuller Road area and Michigan Medicine.
  • North-East Shuttle
    • This adds back high-frequency service connecting Michigan Medicine’s main medical campus, NCRC, Green and Plymouth Road Park & Rides, VA, Arbor Lakes, EMC, Domino Farms, and other offsites.
