Maya Hammoud, M.D., honored by University of Michigan-Dearborn with a 2021 Alumni Difference Maker Award

Congratulations to Maya Hammoud, M.D., the J. Robert Willson Research Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Professor of Learning Health Sciences at the U-M Medical School, who was recently honored by the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a 2021 Alumni Difference Maker Award.

Each year, UM-Dearborn honors alumni difference makers across eight different categories. Hammoud was recognized as the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Alumnus of the Year Award for her outstanding professional accomplishments and demonstrated public service and leadership.

Throughout her career, Hammoud has served as assistant and associate deans at U-M and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. Her research in medical education, with a special focus on the use of technology in education and the role of academic coaching in learner’s development, has resulted in over 70 peer-reviewed publications and three published books.

For more than 40 years, the UM-Dearborn has celebrated alumni difference makers who make an impact on the people, organizations, and communities they touch and demonstrate leadership skills that make change, set examples and inspire others to follow.
