MCard reminders and updates
The Michigan Medicine policy requiring the visible presentation of identification MCards is essential to maintaining a customer-friendly approach while reinforcing our commitment to safety and security for staff, patients and their families.
It is imperative that staff immediately report all lost or stolen MCards to DPSS Michigan Medicine Security by calling DPSS Dispatch Services at 763-1131. After reporting a lost MCard, please obtain a new MCard as quickly as possible to remain compliant with policy, maintain your access, and uphold the importance of identifying ourselves as staff and faculty to our patients, families and visitors.
To obtain a new MCard, please complete this form and bring it to the Key & ID Office, located on Level 1 (C158) of the Med Inn Building. Business hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., and closed on holidays.
Lost MCards
There is a $20 replacement fee for lost MCards which must be paid at the University Hospital Cashier’s Office, located at 2B221. To receive a replacement yellow MCard, issued with a 5-year expiration date, bring the paid receipt from the Cashier’s Office to the Key & ID Office. To receive a replacement yellow MCard with a 1-year expiration date or a replacement red MCard, bring the paid Cashier’s Office receipt and a completed ID Form, signed by the appropriate authorized signer from their department.
Expired MCards
Be aware of your MCard expiration date printed on the front of your card. You are able to renew your MCard starting 30 days prior to the expiration date. Bring your MCard to the Key & ID Office for a renewal, which may include getting an updated photo taken. If you have a yellow MCard with a 5-year expiration date you do not need a completed ID Form, unless one or more of the following has occurred: you have transitioned to a different department, have a medical credential change, require access changes or your yellow MCard has been expired longer than 60 days. If you have a yellow MCard with a 1-year expiration date or a red MCard, bring your MCard along with a completed ID Form , signed by the appropriate authorized signer from their department, to the KEY & ID Office for renewal.
Preferred titles and names on MCards
The MCard software interfaces with Human Resources to maintain current legal name information. Employees who would like to display their preferred name or title can request a two-window badge holder from the Key & ID Office. This badge holder contains a bottom insert window, providing an opportunity to display your title, preferred name and/or pronouns.
Please help with safety and remind each other that MCards must be kept current and worn in a visible manner at all times while on the medical campus.
