Alan Baptist, M.D., M.P.H., has been awarded a $2.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study asthma in young Black adults, a population disproportionately impacted by asthma but under-represented in research.

The research collaboration with Wayne State University will examine the use of mobile asthma management, nursing support, text messages and physical activity monitors to decrease asthma exacerbations and reduce health disparities.

Baptist is an associate professor of allergy and immunology at Michigan Medicine. He currently serves as director of the University of Michigan Asthma Program.
