Phase III of birth center surge accommodation strategy effective today
As the volume of patients in the Birth Center in Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital is expected to return closer to normal averages for the next month, the birth surge accommodation strategy is moving into its third phase.
Units that are impacted in C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, as well as some adult patient units from University Hospital and the Frankel Cardiovascular Center that are located in the children’s and women’s hospitals, have been notified of updated adjustments that go into effect today, Aug. 11.
Hospital leadership will continually assess the situation and will keep teams updated if additional changes need to be made. It is anticipated that the birth surge accommodation strategy will adjust again in mid-September when birth rates are anticipated to rise once again.
Everyone is thanked in advance for their support and partnership in these adjustments as Michigan Medicine continues to provide safe, reliable care to each patient.
