Winners announced for ‘Take the Mic’ contest designed to create and share positive messages about COVID-19 safety

Michigan CEAL is happy to announcing the winners of the Take the Mic contest!

Take the Mic, a contest celebrating everyday heroes saving lives one precautionary measure at a time, launched in January as part of an initiative funded by the NIH to reduce COVID-19 health disparities among Michigan communities.

The winners are:

Written category:

First place: “Wear a Mask,” Elizabeth R.

Second place: “A Part of Me Died Yesterday,” Julie P.

Third place: “Be your Brother’s Keeper,” SJ W.

Other media category:

First place: “Over and Over,” Jeff K.

Second place: “Help Michigan Out, Wear a Mask,” Natsume O.

Third place: “Spread Hope, Not COVID,” Heather W.

All of these submissions were created by community members who are experts in their communities, not by academics or researchers.
