Plan ahead and expect delays: Ann Arbor road work

Please be advised of a number of construction projects around Ann Arbor that will likely impact traffic over the next few weeks.

Plan ahead and expect delays and alert patients if they will be traveling in the area.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • From today until Friday, June 25, an intermittent lane closure is scheduled to be in place on northbound Packard Street between Stone School Road and Independence Boulevard.
    • Traffic will be shifted into the center turn lane and flagging operations will be in effect.
    • Pedestrian traffic will be shifted to the opposite to the opposite side of the street.
  • From today through July 9, a new storm sewer and then a repaving project will take place at the intersection of North Main Street and Lake Shore Drive.
    • The work is scheduled to occur on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
    • The project will occur in two phases to maintain one lane of travel on North Main Street in each direction.
  • Ashley Street is anticipated to be closed at the intersection of Liberty Street and Washington Street for streetscape improvements.
    • Beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, Ashley Street and Liberty Street will be closed leading up to the intersection of Ashley and Liberty.
      • Vehicles traveling northbound on Ashley Street will be detoured east on William Street, then north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Huron Street back to Ashley Street.
      • Vehicles traveling eastbound on Liberty Street will be detoured south on First Street, then east on William Street, then north on Fourth Avenue back to Liberty Street.
      • Vehicles traveling westbound on Liberty Street will be detoured north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Huron Street, then south on First Street back to Liberty Street.
      • Local traffic will be maintained on Ashley and Liberty, and local businesses will remain open and accessible. Pedestrian through-traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times. 
      • This work is expected to be complted by 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16.
    • Beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, Ashley Street and Washington Street is scheduled to be closed to through traffic leading up to the intersection of Ashley and Washington.
      • Vehicles traveling northbound on Ashley Street will be detoured east on William Street, then north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Huron Street back to Ashley Street.
      • Vehicles traveling eastbound on Washington Street will be detoured south on First Street, then east on William Street, then north on Fourth Avenue back to Washington Street.
      • Vehicles traveling westbound on Washington Street will be detoured north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Huron Street, then south on First Street back to Washington Street.
      • Local traffic will be maintained on Ashley and Washington, and local businesses will remain open and accessible. Pedestrian through-traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times.
      • This work is scheduled to be completed by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 21.
      • Westbound vehicle traffic on Washington is expected to remain closed until Saturday, July 31.
  • From Wednesday, June 16 until Friday, Sept. 10, both directions of Geddes Road are scheduled to be closed at Earhart Road, with only eastbound vehicle lanes open to local traffic between Huron Parkway and Earhart.
    • Westbound traffic will be routed north on Earhart Road, west on Glazier Way, south on Huron Parkway back to Geddes.
    • Eastbound through traffic will be detoured north on Huron Parkway, east on Glazier Way, then south on Earhart back to Geddes.
