Week in Review: Pandemic pets, Superhero Day — and more!
From four-legged friends to two-legged superheroes, Headlines has had it all recently!
On Tuesday, employees shared the stories of their newest family members — pets who they adopted during the pandemic. Readers also took a look back at Superhero Day at C&W, when faculty, staff and patients dressed up as their favorite characters; a nurse shared the story of her time as a pediatric oncology patient at Michigan Medicine; and colleagues were recognized for exemplifying the organization’s core values.

Pandemic pets bring joy, laughter during the toughest of times
One staff member adopted two cat brothers. Another brought in a senior beagle. Still more brought in puppies who will be in their lives for the next decade or more. Around the organization, faculty and staff added pets to their homes during the pandemic. Nursed back to health
Olivia Goff has spent the better part of the last nine years coming to Mott. Initially, the majority of that time was spent as an oncology patient. But lately, she’s been coming to treat patients as a nurse on 6E — the same unit that helped her overcome two cancer diagnoses. Click here to read about Goff’s heartwarming journey.
Superhero Day recognizes superhero patients, faculty and staff
On Tuesday, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital were filled with superheroes! From the window washers to cafeteria staff to clinicians and patients, everyone dressed as their favorite superhero to bring a little bit of fun to what has been a challenging year.
